The Windsor

The Windsor knot is wide and triangular, ideal for wide spread shirt collars. This is the best knot for leaving a good impression, well suited for job interviews, presentations, or any time you want to impress.

To begin, button your shirt all the way to the top, and flip your collar up. Select your tie and stand in front of the mirror.

Windsor step 1:

Wrap the tie around your neck with the wide part extending about 12 inches (1 foot) below the narrow tip.

Windsor step 2:

Bring the wide part of the tie up through the loop between the collar and your tie (as shown in the diagram), then back down.

Windsor step 3:

Bring the wide part of the tie underneath the narrow and around to your left.

Windsor step 4:

Bring the wide part across the front to your right.

Windsor step 5:

Bring the wide part up behind the knot.

Windsor step 6:

Bring it down through the knot.

Windsor step 7:

Then gently tighten the knot and draw it up to the collar, and flip your collar down.
